Travel Time: The Batanes Islands Trip

Welcome to the most northern part of the Philippines, the Batanes Islands!
If you’re a nature lover and you need to go to a place free from urban stress, then I suggest Batanes to be your next venture. Batanes is the best place to relax and to bond with your family. Here, you will be too busy having fun observing the place rather than checking your cellphones and other gadgets. The only gadget that you will be using for this trip is your camera.

Batanes is a very clean place. You won’t be worrying about pollution, noise and crime because this place is very peaceful, even policemen here get bored because there’s no crime here. Ivatans are very honest, very friendly and disciplined people. I was surprised that Ivatans still do the BAYANIHAN, one of the Filipino tradition that is willing to help others without asking for any payment.

My trip to Batanes is like a dream, away from the real world. I was amazed on how beautiful the place is. In every place I went, I saw how the deep blue sea and the great green mountains merge. It was a very pleasant experience to watch the sun set in Batanes.

Sabtang island, one of the inhabited island of Batanes, is where you can see the stone houses. It is one of the tourist attractions of Batanes. This place is so peaceful and quiet it’s like the time has stopped. They said that the stone house is ideal for strong typhoons but not ideal for earthquake.

If you are considering Batanes as your next trip, always remember to bring water, apply sunblock and wear scarf, sunglass and hat during summer season because to be able to see more of Batanes you will do lots of hiking, trekking and spelunking. You will also have to ride a boat, so make sure to pack your gadgets inside a zip-lock bag or much better an airtight container for your SLR camera and bring your wind-breaker jackets in case of rain, weather in Batanes is unpredictable.

Oh, one more thing, if you will ride a Jeepney the perfect view is on top. Make sure to hang-on tight and watch out for tree branches.

  8. Think of this wonderful place as sanctuary. I've been here countless times and I find Batanes as one of the best tourist destinations in the philippines. This place can ba tagged as Batanes, the best tourist destination in Asia. Truly, this place is so wonderful as you can reflect and be with yourself. Nothing beats this place compared to any places i have been. I recommend Batanes as tourist spots in the world.
