Travel Time: The Beautiful Structure of Immaculate Conception Church of Batac

The Ilocano devotees from forty-three barangays of Batac, Ilocos Norte have imbibed to themselves the importance of going to the church and listening to the words of God being delivered by the presiding priest during Mass celebration.

The Immaculate Conception Church of Batac or simply known as Batac Church is the center of religious activity of the town. Batac Church, an Augustinian Church, has Romanesque look with Italian architectural influence  which makes it a good attraction for those who want to have vacation while not forgetting weekly religious practices.

The structures, facades and interiors are of Spanish heritages. The religious influences and legacy were also inherited from the same old foreign colonist who settled in the Philippines for almost 300 years.

According to the residents near the church, Immaculate Conception Church of Batac has been renovated and whitewashed to restore its original and beautiful structure. With its improved structures, churchgoers are happier with the way the church looks. Some would say the 'whiteness depicts cleanliness and sincerity' and 'cleanliness is next to Godliness'. Cleanliness  can be related to the white paint of Batac Church.

The Church of Batac is near Laoag City, the capital of province of Ilocos Norte. It may only take 20 minutes to get there from Laoag City. The municipality of Batac is bounded by municipalities of Paoay, Curimao, Banna, Sarrat, and Pinili.

Travelers who want to visit this church will not be disappointed. The town itself has many tourist attractions aside from Batac Church. This is also the hometown of the longest serving president, Ferdinand Marcos. His remains lie in the small museum which they call Malacanan of the North.

    1. I agree that Batac Chuch is such a wonderful place but I do not agree with you in terms of not considering this as a tourist spot. Vatican and other wonderful churches all over the world are tourists attraction.

    2. Immaculate Conception Church is both a sacred praying structure and a tourist spot. Balance lang po. This is not a tourist area alone.

  8. It is seems to be a small church. The population of this town/city must be small.
