The FIBA Asia bound Gilas Pilipinas grabs the first ever silver medals in the William Jones Cup 2015. The Philippines have won four golds and three bronze medals in the annual international basketball tournament hosted by Taiwan. The last participation of Gilas in 2012 won the last gold medals.

The Gilas Pilipinas finished their last assignment by winning a large margin against Taiwanese Team-B. They finished with six wins against two losses. Their two losses came from two Asian basketball rivals, South Korea and Iran.

Without the naturalized player, Andray Blatche, the Gilas went strong by beating six teams. Among the victims were the Wellington Saints from New Zealand where they won via comeback rally, against perimeter shooting Japanese players, Spartak Primorye, a basketball club from Russia and a team composed of non-NBA players from the United States, USA Overtake..

The Iranian basketball team retained their title after losing the title last year. The title won was their fifth gold medals in the tournament. They overtook the seat of the Philippine for most number of gold medals in the entire history of the tournament.

Gilas Pilipinas Jayson Castro William was part of the Mythical Five. Former NBA Center Hamed Haddadi of Iran was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

Terrence Romeo, one of the newest member of Gilas squad, may not be part of the mythical team but he was an instant celebrity during the tournament because of his dribbling skills. In fact, he was cheered because of his exceptional talents both in dribbling and shooting the ball.

Not only the basketball fans were amazed but also one of Taiwan's beautiful reporter, Jenny Yu, was star struck by Romeo. Netizens and fans gladly accepted and supported the team up of Romeo and Yu during the entire tournament.

Gilas' next assignment is the FIBA Asia Championship where only one Olympic berth is at stake. It will be held in China.

The Gilas Pilipinas team will include naturalized player, Andray Blatche, and there will be possibility that Filipino-American NBA player Jordan Clarkson will play. The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas is hoping that the Los Angeles Lakers will allow Clarkson to play with the Gilas.
