The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation was attended by different world leaders including US President Barrack Obama, Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The event was held in Makati, Metro Manila.

The summit was held to talk over some economic issues and strategies to boost economic progress between the cooperating countries. Particularly, the summit is focused on four major agendas - Investing in Human Capital Development; Fostering Small and Medium Enterprises’ (SMEs) Participation in Regional and Global Markets; Building Sustainable and Resilient Communities; Enhancing the Regional Economic Integration Agenda.

There were different bilateral talks and signing happened during the event. President Benigno Aquino III signed bilateral agreements with Mexico, the US, Canada and other countries.

In the sideline of the events, the netizens and media became instant fanatic of two good looking leaders. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada and President Enrique Pena Nieto of Mexico received warm welcome and treated with rock star status by their instant Filipino fanatics. Both leaders headlines some blogs and popular websites.

Top Trend News 4: Duterte to Run for President; His cursing against Pope Francis

After the SET favored Sen. Poe, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte decided to run as president in the coming election. Duterte, who previously and continuously denying that he will run for the highest post, finally made up his mind and run for president.

He will substitute Martin Dino as a candidate for president. Dino and Duterte are both part of the PDP-Laban Party. Dino previously filed certificate of candidacy for PDP-Laban. This was seen as a strategy for Duterte as a substitute.

Rody Duterte had his formal announcement had its share of issues. He was criticized for having cursed the Pope in his speech. The netizens, political opponents and the media reacted to the speech of the emerging contender in the presidential elections.

Top Trend News 3: Grace Poe wins at SET but lost to Comelec Division 2

The Senate Electoral Tribunal ruled against the disqualification case filed against Senator Grace Poe. The disqualification case was filed by losing 2013 senatorial candidate and now presidential candidate Rizalito David of the Kapatiran Party.

The SET is composed of 9 members, 6 Senators and 3 Justices from Supreme Court. The SET voted 5-4 in favor of Senator Poe. Three justices and Senator Nancy Binay voted against Poe.

Poe and Nancy Binay's father, Vice President Jejomar Binay, are both running for President this coming 2016 National Election.

Sen. Poe may have won the case in the SET but lose the case in the Comelec Division 2 when the commissioners ruled 3-0 against Poe candidacy. The case was filed by Estrella Amparo questioning the candidacy of Sen. Poe who is running for the highest office of the country.




Top Trend News 2: Golden State Unbeaten Streak

The striking hot Golden State Warriors continued their streak to 19-0 unbeaten record with a win against the Utah Jazz. This is the best start for a team without a loss in a season.

The Warriors has beaten the previously best records by two teams in the NBA, the Washing Capitols in 1948 and the Houston Rockets in 1993 with 15-0.

The Curry-led team will continue with their winning streaks by targeting 33 straight wins recorded by the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers. The LA Lakers had the best regular season record by that time by having 69-13 win-lose record.


Top Trend News 1:  November 2015 Paris Attacks

On the evening of November 13, 2015, a series of coordinated terrorists attacks happened in Paris and Saint-Denis, in France. There were three separate suicide bombers struck followed by mass shootings at different places.

The ISIS Jihadist claimed the attacks that killed 130 people in one night on separate and coordinated attacks. The Jihadist took hostages before engaging in a stand-off with police officers. There were more than 350 people that were injured.

The attacks in the capital of France is a retaliation of the ISIS against the French military's airstrike in Iraq and Syria.

This is the second mass shooting resulting to multiple death in just a year. The first was the mass shooting at the head office of Charlie Hebdo, a satirical magazine located in Paris, France. There were 17 recorded death in the said terror attack which include the magazine's editor-in-chief, St├ęphane Charbonnier aka Charb. The attack was said to be a retaliation against the magazine for satirical portrayal of Muhammad.
